What is goodsaltwater pier fishing bait?

I am fishing off the Piet in the Alabama state park in orange beach. What are the best baits for which fish this time of year?

Cut mackerel, shrimp whole or in part, sand crabs. any bait fish you can dip catch by the Pier.
